In other words, DC: when you make your cute, funny, “harmless” villains commit horrific atrocities, you make your superheroes not only look ineffective, you make them look like they’re making things worse.
For the sake of fuck, can’t we have comic books be comic again? What’s wrong with a bit of lightheartedness and optimism?
I know little of Batman, just enough for the average American a.k.a. who certain characters are. So, when I watched Under the Red Hood where, y’know, Joker beat a child—someone Batman, supposedly, considered a son—with a crowbar and then exploded him and Batman just went, “Meh,” and let Joker live to wreak more havoc I went, “…wait, what? Um, no. No, this guy needs to go. Like, that should have tipped the scale towards actually doing something about that asshat on a personal level. The hell is wrong with you?” 1) That was way darker than I remember Batman when I was a kid and 2) You’re sooo not taking a moral high ground by letting a murderer go free. That’s not a hero, that’s an idiot. What even?
